Testing will be for all classes (Technician, General, Amateur Extra).

Date: Saturday, October 8, 2022
Time: Test-takers should arrive by 10:00 AM.
Place: Sandpoint Library (Community Room A)

Fee: No exam fee! In support of our community, we are administering the exam under the LARC VEC who does not charge an exam fee.

Note: for LARC, our examiner team is named Inland NW Amateur Radio Examiners (INWARE).

Walk-ins welcome, but please allow extra time to register for the exam.

Required at exam session: Photo ID and FCC-issued FRN [link].

NOTE: A $35 FCC application fee is in effect for new licenses, renewals, and vanity call sign applications. WE do not collect the application fee at the exam. Upon passing you’ll pay the additional $35 directly to the FCC via the FCC Universal Licensing System (ULS) Pay Fees system.

Bonner County ARES will be hosting another ham license exam session. Testing will be for all classes (Technician, General, Amateur Extra).

Date: Saturday, June 11, 2022
Time: Test-takers should arrive by 10:00 AM.
Place: Sandpoint Library (Community Room A or B)
1407 Cedar St, Sandpoint, ID 83864
Fee: $10. Exam fees are waived for minors (<18), students with current ID, first responders, Active Military, Veterans, and GLAARG VEs upgrading to Extra.

Walk-ins welcome, but RSVPs appreciated (see contact info at bottom).

Required at exam session: Photo ID and FCC-issued FRN [link].

Not required but helpful: you can pre-fill the license application (NCVEC Form 605), then print and bring it to the test session.

“Go Bag” Presentation from 2017 BCC Preparedness Expo

The second annual “Bonner County Citizens Preparedness Expo” at the Bonner County Fairgrounds was held as a free all-day workshop with talks, displays and vendors. The slides for the “Go Bag” talk are attached here, to provide the contents list, resource links and prime objective of Go Bag (which also goes by the names Jump Kit, Bug-out Bag, Get Home Bag, and 72-Hour Kit).

For the purpose of this talk, a Go Bag’s purpose is “to keep you effective and functioning immediately after crisis onset — the first 24 hours — and surviving for at least three days. This kit is to sustain YOU while you get to a safer place or wherever you need to be. The BEST kit is the one you have with you.”
